Having won the RTS Award for Best Children’s Programme for A  Midsummer Nights Dream. I’m currently with the same team to source and make props for the theatre production of Shakespear's play.

ITV's The Voice (season 7)

Art Department Runner

Working with the design team while filming in Manchester I was doing the petty cash buying and dressing small sets used for the sponsors of the show. This included the short links and interviews with the presenters and participants

I covered a range of roles from petty cash buying to prop making. I worked both in the workshop and in Dock 10 studios assisting the art team.

Cbbc's The Dengineers

Design Assistant

Working alongside various designers to source, create and build a child's den. Its a collaboration with the designer and the chosen idea to produce a working den. As the designers were only available on location I was  making key design decisions on their behalf. From producing floor plans and design drawings for the producers to deciding final colour schemes.

Cbeebies production of 'Goldilocks And The Three Bears'

Working with the theatre design and props team at The West Yorkshire Playhouse I spent time making props and setting up the sets for each scene keeping a check on continuity.

Working on a low budget film as the main graphics designer. I designed  and made a variety of pieces from magazine covers to vinyl wall prints. As well as helping out with set dressing and petty cash buying.

BBC comedy - Citizen Khan (series 5)

Costume Assistant/Standby 

I helped clean/iron and organise costumes ready for the artists. While on camera I’d help dress the artists and check that they match continuity requirements.

CBBC comedy - Class Dismissed (series 2)

Art Department Assistant 

Working on location in a school I covered general art department duties. Alongside the designer I made humorous props and visually interesting classroom sets that were in keeping with the script and style of the CBBC show.

Cbeebies A Midsummer Night's Dream

Art Department Assistant/Runner

Based in the Everyman theatre (Liverpool) I was working alongside the designer, prepping props and dressing the set. Due to the live records with a theatre audience I spent a large amount of time on set as a standby for the set and props.

Citizen Khan

Prop Making 

Having seen some of my work while on Jimmy Rose I was recommended to the art department on Citizen Khan to make a children’s pop-up book. The book would be used on a comedy scene where several animal characters would need to pop up from the page one after another. So I spent a few days designing and making the book.

Houdini and Doyle

Prop Making 

From my work on Cradle to Grave I was recommended by the buyer to help the art department with designing and making a birdcage cover that would be in keeping with the period drama.

Coronation Street

Work experience in Art Department

During my week on the street I spent a day in each area of the department, helping out wherever I could. From making a model of the Platt’s new garage set to assisting the standby team with action props on set.

Sky comedy series ‘Mount Pleasant’

Volunteered in Art Department

Assisting in the art department wherever required, from researching new characters and building models for new sets to making on screen props, so a lot of general art department assistant duties.

Cbeebies and CBBC (presentation)

Work experience in Art Department

Helped support the presentation/design team. I handmade props required in the daily links and presentations. I was involved in making props and graphics through to aiding the floor managers in set dressing.

BBC comedy drama set in 1970’s-‘Cradle to Grave’

Assisted in Art Department (paid)

Worked within the art department to make and 

sew some of the onscreen accessories for set dressing.

ITV drama ‘The trials of Jimmy Rose’

Work Experience as Art Department Assistant 

Though it was a voluntary position I provided support and assistance to the whole design team. These few weeks helped me realise that I wanted to work in TV and Film production, it was a career that I wanted to pursue further. Though it was a different field of creativity the design skills used were the same. My work varied from helping build props at the Sharp project to assisting the art director on location.

My role was varied it ranged from designing and producing greeting cards and paper gifts through to managing the company’s social media accounts. I used Adobe products every day to produce visually appealing designs.

As well as hitting sales targets I was able to express my design skills through a retail environment by designing and building visually appealing room sets. As well as the general public I was working with Interior designers and production buyers.
